So says the captain of The Squish, feared pirate vessel and home of the all-day oodles of poodles eatery. We are glad you are with us and we hope your magical voice will bring us joy.
There is something inherently appealing about your artstyle to me. A lot of people I think just come to look at the AMAZING COMICS since I don't find you've been apt to posting copious ammounts of your quality art. For a while it was nothing *but* the AC's.
But I like the Gothic look to your Art Style. I think right off the bat most people would say it looks like anime, and whereas it's roots are obvious(er, I think), I wouldn't personally label it so carelessly.
But I digress.
Your style is very *focused*, like you know where you're going with your art. My style I find, fluctates quite a bit (and what's on my deviantart hardly does me justice, I haven't posted on there for over a year aside from silly digital drawings), from semi realistic, to big eyed and gothic, to ...all sorts of things. What I like so much is that you seem to have a sense of direction in where and what you want your art's appearance to be.
You (clearly) like more horror based subjects. I have seen far too many Johnny the Homocidal Maniac rip offs, and direct takes from Tim Burton, but your style stands out on it's own in the sense that you clearly do not directly derive yourself from these two artists who are associated very closely with the "Goth" look artwise(excuse the stereotyping). I see too many artists starting out copying those two art styles so blatantly(but then a lot of artists start out that way, so maybe my point is invalid).
You do simple things that I haven't seen many times before. Particularly, the semi Marrionette look -- of various limbs hanging from strings, like this particular piece, Fishbone. Or her spider legs and fish tail. You do not make her monstrous, either, despite the fact that she has sections of her skeleton exposed, an arm is hanging loose, she's got spiderlegs and a tail.
For all those factors, she remains...elegant.
Uh, kind of a round about way of saying it: But good job :3.
As well, this is obvious: Your attention and careful work astounds me concerning detail. It looks very tediously done, but without being distracting and mainting focus on the girl's face. That is very difficult to do. The place my eye stays on is her face. Focus in terms of comics and art in general is *very* important, as it can make and break a picture.
When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
A Special Collection of photographs i found this month that still haunts my mind. Show them some love There are always some i can`t include due to space, i try to make the features under 50 deviations to give them better exposure
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
