OK, this one bears explaining.
My editors pushed me for a series of new covers for Bizenghast, volume 1, and the overall decision by Levy (head of Tokyopop) was that they were all not simple enough. He liked the Violin Girl piece I did a year ago, and wanted to see a mock-up of that same painting, but with a different background and changed to be Dinah, the main character. So that's what's going on here.
Will it be the ACTUAL cover for the book come this Christmas? Who knows. I like it better than the other jillion sketches I've done over the past six months. But we'll just have to see what Stu says.
In case you're wondering how I separated the two to make a new painting, I always do my backgrounds as a separate painting. So this background is a separate piece altogether. I also painted Dinah's head and hair separately and combined it with the body on the PC.
