EDIT: You can see this prop and my McGee's Alice costume at my Alice in Wonderland photo stockaccount:
I've been planning to do this prop for a while to go with my Alice costume, but never got an evening free to actually make it. It's the first time I've ever used a tin foil base to wrap the Sculpey around....I HATE doing that, but the headpiece for the mallet would be SO heavy if it was solid Sculpey, plus it's really big and would waste a lotta clay. Even so, it's still pretty heavy.
The final piece is a little over half a foot high. At left is the drawing pattern I used to model it. Finding closeups of the mallet in-game was SUPER tricky.
UPDATE: Just painted it, but I'm going to lighten the grey on the beak because it came out darker than the game images. *
I was just looking at your gallery....cosplay, artist, designer and sculpter.... you really are good.
Cosplayings the best! I'm making a dress right now the stupid small convention we have here but I'm no where near as good as you are.

Ah that's brilliant, I don't know all that much about sculpting but I just love the game, and for finding a close pic couldn't you have played the game, stand somewhere where the camera zooms in close and take a screan shot? Anyhow I love that sculpture, it's done very well. Petrsonally I's make the carvings in the lower part a little more regulated. My complements are on the eye and it's expression. I'd love to see the costume in full. Be sure to take a lot of pictures ^_^ great work. I worship thee
For closeup shots in the game, I did a lot of standing around and trying to zoom in. Unfortunately the camera rarely zooms in on the front of Alice. It usually zooms in on the back of her head, and she holds her croquet mallet too low to see on the screen once you zoom in...at best you get a nice view of the back of the mallet's head. Lame. But i tried!
I prolly would have made the crenellations more symmetrical too, but you gotta go with the source picture. Oh well.
Thanks for your comments!

welcome, hmm, you know when alice is small and you have this large pieces of grass where she won't walk through? That's where I always mages to see her. Ah well it turned out wonderful anyway. ^_^ Again please finish this costume I can't wait to see.
also another random note, you have made me want to either play the game, read the book, or draw alice again. It's been a long time since I did either (I accidentally deleted my game, and didn't fee like doing it all over again)
WOW!!!!! This is sooo exciting.
I wish you could hallow out the inside and make a simple switch to have the mouth open and close.
I can't wait to see a photo of you with this mallet
When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
