EDIT: I should note this is the February installment of my mother's subscription to the Picture of the Month Club. Every month I make a nice picture for her to display in a frame on her desk. It was her Xmas present Here is a copy of the club's letter to her for this month:
--- Dear Dr. LeGrow:
Enclosed is your Picture of the Month Club installment for February, entitled Narwhals at Play.
This picture was selected from our Picture Library in Lacoste from a private collection of rare eighteenth-century sketches, discovered by the late explorer Lord Kensington Chumford of Chester-on-Chesterford in Chestershire, during his travels among the indigenous peoples of the arctic circle in 1756. It has been removed from the collection only once before, when Lord Chumford thought he might have accidentally made a memorandum about his aunt's birthday party on the back of it. Since then it has been kept in pristine condition, within a plexiglass chamber that is kept at a constant 65 degrees, and had soothing music played at it for no less than three hours a day on the weekdays and five hours on the weekend.
This picture is ready and suitable for framing as soon as your husband prints it out on his special secret nice photo paper. We value your membership and thank you for your patronage!
What, you ask, are my two favorite things in the world? Unicorns and Mermaids. And when you put them together, you get the lovely narwhal. Thanks for making my day!
