So this is what I submitted to my editor for the cover of book 3. It may or may not be rejected, but I think right now they're going with it. This is just a rough copy without all the marker brushstrokes smoothed out, so it will look better if/when it gets used for the cover. I think for book 4 I'll have to insist that Vincent get a cover. The man gets NO facetime at all. No love for Vi. So sad. He's the only character who's never gotten fan mail. But he's rich, so screw him.

This is the first cover for Bizenghast NOT done with watercolors! MADNESS! MADNESS!!! talked me into buying a big set of Copic markers at San Diego Comicon and I haven't looked back. They is so fun! And marker-y! Snakes everywhere are embracing them with cautious enthusiasm. It's still hard to see a cover NOT done with paint, though.

I colored this while my friend Kev and I sat laughing very hard at the Ring Two DVD. Killer DEER? To what end? I guess they're scary if you factor in Lyme disease and all, but seriously.
